Rent a container for as long as you need it.
Renting works well for moves, remodels and jobs with an end date. Tell us what you need and independent suppliers can quote it.
When renting makes sense
Short projects
Remodels, moves and cleanouts that last a few months.
Job sites
Storage that leaves when the job does.
Seasonal needs
Extra space for a busy season only.
Trying it out
See if a container suits you before buying one.
What to ask on a rental quote
- Monthly rate, and any minimum term
- Delivery fee and pickup fee
- Deposit, if any
- Whether a lock box or lock is included
- Damage policy and what counts as normal wear
- Insurance requirements
- Whether rent-to-own is an option
Buy vs rent
Renting costs less up front, but the monthly charges and the two-way delivery fees add up over time. If you think you'll need the space for a long time, get a purchase quote too and compare. Choosing Not sure yet on the form lets suppliers quote both.

Rental questions
How long can I rent a container?
Many suppliers rent month to month, sometimes with a minimum term. Ask about the minimum and how billing works if you end early.
Who pays for delivery and pickup?
Usually you do, and it's often charged both ways. Ask for both fees on the quote.
Can I modify a rented container?
Usually not without permission. Some suppliers rent units that already have shelving, roll-up doors or other features.
Is rent-to-own available?
Some suppliers offer it. Ask how much of each payment goes toward the purchase price and what happens if you stop paying.
